Visit to the Museum Kunstpalast, Dusseldorf 2018
We are very pleased to let you know that we have had an invitation from the Museum Kunstpalast, Düsseldorf to view a selection of netsuke from the famous collection of Dr Bruno Werdelman which is housed in the Museum. The visit has been arranged by Adrian Heindrichs, a member of the Chapter’s Committee, and will take place on Friday 25th May 2018 from 1.30pm. Members attending the event should meet in the Thorn-Prikker-Foyer of the Museum’s main entrance at 1.30pm where we will be met by Mrs Til, the Museum’s Curator.
We will be able to see and handle about 30 netsuke from the Werdelman collection.
Unfortunately, the number of people the Museum can accommodate is restricted to 20 Members, so we will allocate places on the basis of the first replies received.
As you will appreciate, we can include guests of Members only if places are available and any Member wishing to bring a guest will need to let me have their name for inclusion on a waiting list. Details of any other activities which may take place during the day, will be made available nearer the time.
The Museum has kindly offered to let us choose (where possible) the pieces we would like to see.
Selections can be made from this link: https://emuseum.duesseldorf.de/view/objects/asimages/5448 . Chapter Members may wish to confirm with me that they have secured a place for the visit before spending time identifying which pieces they wish to see.
Chapter Members attending this event may wish to stay over in Düsseldorf and should this be the case, the following links to hotels may be useful, although Members will need to be responsible for their own booking arrangements:
Hotel Am Ehrenhof (near the Museum): www.hotel-am-ehrenhof.de
Hotel Nikko Düsseldorf (near the main station, in the Japanese quarter): www.nikko-hotel.de
Hotel am Hofgarten (near the city centre): www.hotel-am-hofgarten.de
Please let me know by Saturday 31 March 2018 if you wish to come to the Museum Kunstpalast, Düsseldorf on 25th May.
For those members for whom are places being secured, please let us know by Saturday, the 7th of April 2018 which netsuke you wish to see; we should work on the basis that individuals choose a maximum of five netsuke as this will give us a manageable number with which to work.
