About Us

The European Chapter of the International Netsuke Society has existed for well over 20 years, but has always struggled with the vast geographical spread included in its membership. Meetings held to coincide with auctions were usually well attended, but many people were never able to join us for these evenings.

At a board meeting in 1975 the idea of holding ‘meetings on paper’ was mooted, with the publication of a modest magazine_euronetsukemagazine that would cover European events and give a voice to European collectors. In the autumn of 1975 we proudly presented our first issue of 26 pages. Initially a quarterly publication, we moved to the more manageable production of two larger issues per annum. This was always intended to run alongside the INS Journal, covering more local topics, as well as ones of universal interest.

Costs originally obliged us to keep the format to black and white, but in 2009 we produced our first edition in colour.

We are entirely funded by dealer advertisements and membership subscriptions.
If you would like to join the European chapter and be invited to our events and receive future issues, please contact David Louis Brown at: dl.brown68@ntlworld.com

Membership cost is:
United Kingdom – £20.00
Europe – €30,00
Rest of World – US$ 38.00

Our magazine editor, Rosemary Bandini, is always looking for new articles and members’ letters to publish.

We also organize several events a year, including occasional private viewings of museum collections, as well as ‘show-and-tell’ evenings. The bigger our membership, the more we can organize.

This is your website. Please let us know what you think, and give us any suggestions you might have to enhance our community.
