We are very pleased to let you know that a special visit to the Musée d’Ennery, Avenue Foch, Paris, has been organized for Thursday 23rd June 2016.
23rd June 2016 – Visit to the Musée d’Ennery, Paris
The visit will start at 16.00 prompt lasting for 1 hour, but we will need to gather at the museum at 15.30. (Nearer the time we will arrange a meeting place for lunch before making our way to the venue.)
The Musée d’Ennery has a remarkable collection of 7000 objects from the Far East bequeathed to the State in 1894 by Clémence d’Ennery, wife of the journalist Adolphe d’Ennery. Her collection illustrates daily life and belief in China and Japan from the 16th to 19th centuries in a sumptuous Second Empire mansion house. The collection holds a large group of netsuke which provide a snapshot of 19th century collecting; netsuke were bought from all the great Parisian dealers of the day. We will not be able to handle the netsuke, but we will have an opportunity to see a collection, that is seldom available to view, in their display cases, of which there are 7 or 8. (Rosemary Bandini will act as our guide to the collection and is hoping to pull together a listing of the contents of each cabinet which will assist with the viewing.)
Who can attend?
Any Euronetsuke member.
So how do I sign up?
